Piano Lessons

I offer one-to-one piano lessons for children and adults, beginners to advanced level. I am an experienced and enthusiastic teacher aiming to encourage and motivate pupils to enjoy learning a breadth of piano repertoire. My focus is on developing the pupil as a musician and enjoying the learning process. Every pupil is different and I aim to support each one by encouraging them on their musical journey. I encourage them to bring their own repertoire suggestions as well, especially older pupils. I will also offer suggestions for repertoire to help my students to explore music which they may otherwise not have chosen.

I also teach music theory alongside piano and can also teach music theory separately if required, particularly Grade 5 for those wanting to progress to ABRSM Grade 6 practical exams.

I have experience entering pupils for exams and am happy to prepare for them when the time is right. There are several exam boards available so it is possible to choose the most suitable for the student.

I incorporate aspects of the Kodály approach to music education as part of the piano lesson, mainly, but not exclusively with younger beginners. This includes singing and musicianship activities with simple rhymes or songs to develop musical understanding away from the instrument.

Piano Accompaniment

am available to accompany instrumentalists needing piano accompaniment, especially if needed for instrumental or vocal exams.

If you need an accompanist, please contact me to discuss the requirements and please allow plenty of time for preparation.
